Blast from the Past at the Park

img_7543_bike.jpgIt’s not everyday you see an old-fashioned bike from long ago at the park.

I grabbed this shot while finishing up a hike at Castlewood State Park with my buddies Peggy and Lesley.

I did a little research on this bike: apparently it was the first “practical” bicycle, called a High Wheeler. It reached its peak of popularity in the 1880’s. (If you want to learn more, check out this history of the bicycle.)
